I love it when people say "There is a science to everything..." because there really is. Ok, ok maybe its not rocket science, though there really is a science to everything.
Let's take Marketing as an example. We see the super bowl ads every year and can vote on them. Which ones were hot and which ones not.
Beyond the dollars spent and all the production going into making such an extravagant advertisement, it has to have a point. At the end of this ad or commercial, what does the company want the person seeing it to do?
Here is where the science takes place.
No Action, which means getting it through the persons head that eventually you'll end up needing our product or service at some point after that person has seen the company name more than once.
OR
Action, which is mostly hype to buy the company's product now. Now Now NOW!
In both scenario's, if the product is good, the person will probably come back at least once or twice to see what new products or promotions the company has going on.
Return Value
Based on that one person buying that product and receiving the benefit of that product. They end up telling other people about the benefits and or returning themselves after awhile.
Feedback
Without this persons feedback there might not be a new product or if there is, might have to change the direction or function of this new product from the customers feedback. This is crucial to a company's longevity and in someways a vital step from being a so so company to being an industry leader. People are always willing to give detailed feedback on a good product. If the product sucks with no feedback, you have a real problem. Whoops, back to the drawing board.
In Conclusion
Just like learning how to ride a bike, marketing is the key to any type of business. Remember when we were kids and you wanted to sell lemonade at a stand with a sign to the passing by bicyclists. Few would stop and pay the buck.
At the end of the day, you got so excited cause you made an extra 20 bucks just by making lemonade (I remember mom making the lemonade while I setup the table n the signs.)
You know what's funny, I get the same excitement today as I did back then when I come up with great idea or marketing plan. You should too.
